Summer Intensives

DANCE & ACRO INTENSIVES – for more focused dance study

 

These intensives are designed for a more focused dance experience. While they don’t get crafts and game time, they do get a solid technical foundation, more focused time with DE staff members, and a push to take their dancing to the next level.

Ballet Intensive:

Students will learn proper ballet technique in a professional, yet fun setting. Designed to increase body control, which in turn will enhance all other areas of dance and acro.

 

Jazz Intensive:

This class will focus on the fundamentals of jazz dance including isolations, rhythm, musicality, alignment, and coordination. Students will also work on leaps, turns, and advanced dance skills and combinations.

 

Tap Intensive:

This class is designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. DE tap class will continue to build these tap techniques, and more complex and intricate skills.

 

Leaps & Turns:

This class will focus on the fundamentals of leaps, turns, & progressions.

 

Acrobatics Intensive:

Our 4-day summer acro intensive focuses on flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline & concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic techniques. Students will learn handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance, contortion stretching, and power tumbling skills. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, flexibility, and strength.

  • Beginning-Intermediate (5-12) – Dancers must have both their backend with no spotter.
  • Intermediate/Advanced (7-18) – Dancers must have both their front and back walkovers with no spotter.

 

Aerials and BackHandpring Intensive: (9-18)

This class is designed for students who are already close to completing an aerial and/or backhandspring, or for students who want to continue to master these tricks. To take this class, students must have a cartwheel from the knee on their dominant side, and they must have their right and left side front and back walkovers with no spotter.
